About Latexo, TX - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Latexo is located in Houston County, Texas, approximately 140 miles southeast of Dallas and 120 miles north of the city of Houston. Established in the early 1870s as a stop on the International and Great Northern Railroad, Latexo was named for the Louisiana Texas Orchard Company, who bought property near the community in 1900.

Latexo is presently home to a population of approximately 300 residents and a strong diversified economy based in manufacturing, retail, and education. The city is served by the Latexo Independent School District and is located within 45 miles of several institutes of higher learning that include Angelina College in Lufkin, Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, and Lon Morris College in Jacksonville.

Latexo’s mild temperate climate provides perfect weather for enjoying the fabulous opportunities for outdoor sports and recreation that dominate the region. The city is located just 14 miles east of Houston County Lake, a 1,330-acre spring-fed reservoir that is a popular destination for fishing, recreational boating, and watersports. Lake amenities include two public boat launches, a full-service marina, bait and tackle shop, swimming beach, and resort campground, complete with volleyball courts, horseshoes, and miniature golf. Stocked by the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, the lake regularly yields excellent catches of largemouth bass, spotted bass, crappie, bluegill, and redear sunfish.

Latexo is located 30 miles west of Davy Crockett National Forest, a 160,000-acre expanse of woodlands, wetlands, and waterways that are perfect for fishing, boating, hunting, camping, hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Popular designated recreation areas within the forest include the Big Slough Wilderness Area and Ratcliff Lake Recreation Area, starting point for the Four C National Recreation Trail that takes hikers on an amazing journey through the Piney Woods of East Texas before terminating twenty miles to the north at Neches Bluff Overlook.

Popular area events include the annual 4th of July Boat Parade at Houston County Lake and the El Camino Real “Sale on the Trail,” a two-day shopping extravaganza held the first weekend in May that features 200 miles of bargains along historic Highway 21 from Crockett to Natchitoches, Louisiana.

Situated at the crossroads of U.S. Highway 287 and State Route 19, Latexo is a great place to live in East Texas!
